Gold Facts

Gold is a precious and Noble metal. It has an excellent chemical stability and high resistance to oxidation and corrosion. The purity of gold is measured in carats where pure gold is 24 carats; henceforth

• 24 carat has 99.5% of gold content
• 23 carat has (23/24*100)95.83% of gold content
• 22 carat has (23/24*100)91.6% of gold content
• 18 carat has (18/24*100)75% of gold content

Until recently only impure gold jewellery used to be sold in India wherein the joint s and hooks in jewellery were made with lower karatage of gold known as tanka.with every single unit of underkaratage, the customer looses bulk of money. But lately ,after the introduction of KDM most retailers have begun to sell pure karatage gold which is certyified or hallmarked by a BIS laboratory.

Diamond Facts

After being underneath the earth's surface, the rough stone is crafted into a beautiful piece of diamond. The authenticity of a Diamond is acknowledged by the 4C's- Cut, Clarity, Colour and Carat.

Cut

The cut of the Diamond affects its sparkle by affecting the light falling on it. When a diamond has been cut correctly, light is reflected from one facet to another then dispersed through the top of the stone. The most popular shapes that the diamond can be cut into are round marquise, pear, Emerald, Oval, Princes and Heart.

Clarity

Most diamonds contain very tiny impurities known as “Inclusions” an inclusion can interfere with the light passing through the diamond. The fewer the inclusions, the more beautiful and expensive the diamond is.

Colours

Diamonds can be plenty in colour; and can range from the faint yellows or browns to the supremely rare blues, greens and pinks. It is said that the most suited colour for diamond is no colour at all, since it enables the light to pass through easily; thus making its sparkle more.

Carate

The weight of the diamond is measured in carats. One carat is divided into 100 cents. The bigger the diamond the more valuable it gets. Two diamonds can be equal carat weight, but their values can greatly due to their cut, clarity and colour.

Kundan Facts

Kundan jewellery is one of the oldest forms of jwewllery made and worn in India. Kundan received great patronage during the Mughal era and many stunning pieces were created in those times. Kundan work is method of gem setting, consisting of inserting gold foil between the stones and its mount. Kundan jewellery is a product of well orchestrated team work and involves a variety of specialist skills; the designer (naqash,chitera), the goldsmith (sonar), the engraver (thegharaiiwala), the enameller (minakar), the gem setter (kundansaz) and stringer (patua).
